It’s
a gray and dreary day outside. You sit at your desk and toil under the
glare of florescent and/or halogen lights. Everything else in your office
is some strain of gray or brown, from the carpet to the receptionist’s
hair. To add to this, your desktop wallpaper is the same as when you bought
your computer. We can’t change the weather, office decor is your boss’s
(only) job, and the receptionist is known to bite. But we can help with
your desktop issues. Check out BackFlip, today’s CoolTool!
BackFlip comes to us from those Russian folks at fCoder. We’ve reviewed
some of their programs in the past and have been impressed with the quality
of work they turn out. BackFlip is no exception, simple but useful. BackFlip
lets you change your desktop wallpaper at set intervals. You use a very
intuitive interface to set which images to switch and how often. The images
can be anywhere on your computer or (very cool) anywhere on the Internet!
The coolest thing we found about BackFlip is how it handles images. BackFlip
has the built-in ability to convert most images (17 types) into bitmaps
for use as wallpaper. The real ingenuity is that BackFlip doesn’t process
the conversion until you need the image! So you save hard drive space!
fCoder will let you play with BackFlip for 30 days, then you have to pay.
It’s only $19 to buy, so why not give it a try? Spruce up your desktop
and get some color back in the office!
